A calligram is an arrangement of words or letters designed to create a visual image. Calligrams enjoy a rich tradition and wide variety of styles limited only by the artist’s imagination. As stated by British book designer Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson: “The whole duty of Typography, as of Calligraphy, is to communicate to the imagination, without loss by the way, the thought or image intended to be communicated by the Author”. A special type of calligraphy known as micrography (or micro-calligraphy) utilizes minute letters to provide a unique interplay between textual content and image presenting a story or poem at the small scale and forming an image when viewed as a whole. The gap in scale between lettering and image is a defining characteristic of micrography and distinguishes it from other types of calligrams.

Creative Photography is a useful source, it gives me the ability to learn more things before my Internship and it gives me a better explanation for my audience during my senior mastery. This source was published in 2013 so it's not as much up to date but all the information in this book is reliable. Wanting to learn more about photography the book Creative Photography is the best at teaching me different types of photography step by step. Presenting my mastery with a part of photography being a topic help me out perfectly by reading this source. Steve Sonheim was a commercial photographer for 20 years. He has a BS from Brooks Institute of Santa Barbara. Carla Sonheim is an illustrator and the author of other art books. Together they share a studio, where they produce online video courses in photography, drawing, painting, etc. This is an objective and reliable source because the authors give examples, shows how the camera should be set, and tells people what not to do. The goal of this source was to help people improve their photography skills by showing/telling them the principles of photography.
Reading through the book Creative Photography gave me a different feeling of photography. This source helped me by explaining to me how to really use the camera to get this certain photography and also adjusting my smartphone to do some types of photography. This book change how I think about photography in a good way. It made me see photography on another level where I can push myself to take a professional picture. Photography Is what I plan on doing an Internship on, by looking through it fits into my research because I wanted to know more about all of the different types of photography and how to set up my camera for certain photos. With really doing photography I am beginning at learning the basics of photography. What I will be researching is photography so this book helped me a lot with finding a specific topic of what I want to do. Creative Photography kind of helped me plan my thesis with my research but then it kind of didn’t. I still have more researching to do.
